Manchester United have been pushing hard to sign Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard, it has been revealed.
Marca says United were prepared to pay big money for the Norwegian following his performances while on loan at Real Sociedad last season.
The creative midfielder who joined Real Madrid on 27 Apr 2015 from Strømsgodset has found the back of the net seven times in 37 appearances for Real Sociedad last season.
But Madrid were firm as they held off interest from the Old Trafford outfit to bring the playmaker back to the Bernabeu this summer.
It was just the latest effort from United to land the attacker, who first registered an interest in him in 2014 when he was 15.
United then renewed their interest in the exciting midfielder as they returned for Odegaard last October with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in charge with the Norwegian keen to swoop for his fellow young compatriot.
Madrid were even thought to have offered the playmaker to United in a potential deal for Paul Pogba before the summer, reports The Sun.
Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane sees the midfielder as a great prospect with great potential and talents and is willing to wait and allow the young midfielder to grow and f his dream of playing for Real Madrid.
