Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on a potential January transfer deal for Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic.
Spurs have been linked with the Serbian international in the past but it now seems as though Jose Mourinho will be pushing the idea of signing the Viola talent in the winter.
A report from La Nazione is suggesting that Mourinho has wanted Milenkovic for a number of years. In fact, he was keen on bringing the player in during his time at Manchester United, who also retain an interest in the player.
The 23 years old has already surpassed 100 appearances for Fiorentina – as well as clocking up 23 caps for Serbia. He has emerged, over the past couple of seasons, as one of the best central defenders in Serie A with La Viola.
West Ham made a £20million bid for Milenkovic in the summer, as per the Mail, which was rejected by Fiorentina. It is believed there has been an agreement with AC Milan for some time but now, Spurs and other clubs have looked to sway him.
It has been reported that Antonio Conte’s Inter, Diego Simeone’s Atletico, Man United and Spurs have all made advances to sign Milenkovic and are said to have promised the defender an ‘important contract’. Fiorentina rate Milenkovic at a fee of £36million.
