Arsenal are prepared to pay-out the remainder of Mesut Ozil‘s whopping contract. Mikel Arteta is happy for Ozil to leave the club with one year remaining on his current deal.
Mesut Ozil doesn’t appear to have a future at Arsenal, with the club looking for a way to buy him out of his £18million contract.
Ozil is one of Arsenal’s best players on his day, but Mikel Arteta hasn’t seen enough from the German to gift him a place in his first team. The German playmaker did not feature once after the Premier League restart in June.
And the Mirror says the Gunners are considering giving Ozil his annual salary of £18m for him to leave the club this summer. Alternatively, the north London club will also subsidize his £350,000-a-week wages if he joins another club on loan.
Arteta wants to clear out any deadwood from his squad this summer as he looks to build on his side’s FA Cup triumph.
Ozil has been linked with other Turkish sides including Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce in the past due to his origins in the country but a deal this summer may not get over the line. The former Germany international still has a year left on his £350,000-a-week contract at Arsenal and knows he won’t be offered the same money elsewhere.
