Chelsea remains in the hunt for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice. Rice has emerged as one of England’s best players after shining for West Ham in the heart of midfield, and he has attracted long-term interest from London rivals Chelsea.
The Blues were in hot pursuit of Rice, a former youth product of the club, in the summer transfer window but a £60million move failed to materialise after they failed to offload a number of fringe players.
The Athletic reports Chelsea are hoping Rice ignores any of West Ham’s advances to tie home down to a new contract at the London Stadium as the Blues look to snap up his signature in January.
On Saturday, Rice will be expected to lead the Hammers into battle against a Fulham team managed by Parker and, speaking to West Ham TV ahead of what promises to be an exciting London derby, the 21-year-old revealed his admiration for the man who ran the Irons midfield ten years ago.
“If you look at Scott Parker and his career, I think he was so under-appreciated and he wasn’t spoken about enough, because he was actually such a top, top, top player,” the hardworking midfielder observed.
