According to reports from England, Chelsea winger Willian is understood to have rejected an offer of a three-year contract to play in MLS with Inter Miami.
The franchise that is co-owned by David Beckham. The club made an ambitious move to secure the services of the player but it seems Willian is not planning on moving to the USA anytime soon.
Willian, 31, signed a temporary contract extension with Chelsea until the end of the Covid19 delayed 2019/2020 season. But he is expected to move on this summer – preferably to a club in Europe – having failed to come to an agreement over a long term deal.
Chelsea have been known not to offer more than a year contract to players above 30. The club has already offered Willian a one year contract with an option for another year but the player is holding out for an outright three-year deal. The club and the player are yet to reach a compromise and it is likely Willian will move on a free at the end of the season.
Willian is attracting a lot of interest from top clubs across Europe. Juventus, Barcelona and Inter Milan have all been linked with the player. While Tottenham and Arsenal are also monitoring the player’s contract situation.
