Dean Henderson is on the verge of signing a mega new four-year Old Trafford deal worth £100,000 a week. The Sun says Henderson, 23, is on the verge of signing a mega new four-year Old Trafford deal worth £100,000 a week.
The ambitious keeper caught plenty of attention last season between the sticks on loan at Sheffield United, where a string of impressive performances helped Chris Wilder’s side to an unexpected top-half finish in the Premier League.
The England goalkeeper had just signed a new £60k-a-week deal last year and is a clear sign Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants him to battle David De Gea for the No1 spot.
It also means United would be splashing out £575k a week just on their goalkeepers, with Spaniard De Gea earning £350k, Sergio Romero (£70k) and Lee Grant (£30k).
However having since returned to his parent club, the 23-year-old is not prepared to sit on the bench behind David de Gea and is keen on continuing his development by playing first-team football.
And the Manchester United academy product’s representatives have held meetings with Old Trafford chiefs over the last few weeks.
His new deal will also come with the option of a further 12 months, which can be activated at any time.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is impressed by the former England Under 21 keeper and sees him as good competition to battle David de Gea for the No 1 spot.
Henderson has come through the United academy set-up yet remarkably has yet to make his senior debut for the club despite having held a professional contract since 2015.
Following two successful years on loan at Bramall Lane, the Blades are keen to bring him back to the club for a third season and talks are taking place with United over another temporary switch despite their proposed deal for Aaron Ramsdale from Bournemouth.
