Atletico Madrid are interested in the services of Tottenham defender, Jan Vertonghen. The Belgian player is now a free agent having decided to run down his contract at White hart lane appears to favour a move to the Spanish club.
It is believed that AS Roma have also been linked with the 33 years old defender while reports from Spain have emerged that Diego Simeone’s side have also registered their interest.
Simeone already acquired the services of Vertonghen’s former player, Kieran Trippier to his defence and he is looking forward to adding the experience of the Belgian defender to his side towards next season.
Roma, meanwhile, sees Vertonghen as a cheaper alternative if Chris Smalling’s proposed loan deal with Manchester united becomes unsuccessful.
Vertonghen leaves Spurs this month after eight years at White Hart lane following his decision to start something new with another club.
It is believed from some quarters that Manchester United are also interested in the services of the Belgian international due to his experience in the premier league. Solskjaer sees the player as a temporary defensive partner with Harry Maguire.
Wolves are also looking into the possibility of signing the 33 years old defender due to his flexibility of playing at the centre back as well as on the left-back.
